Galway Film Centre in association with Galway City Council, and Galway County Council, under its ID Film Projects Scheme, has been working with community groups to develop technical, practical and personal skills, in the area of documentary making since 2000.
The ID Projects aim to document a broad range of issues and subjects in society today by empowering groups to tell their own stories. This is done by giving participants basic foundation training and hands-on experience in the areas of writing, directing, camera, sound and editing. The groups then tell their own stories based on the common theme of identity.
The full archive of around 70 ID Films is now available to view on this website. Simply click on the links to each year in the menu at the top of this page and enjoy the documentaries from each year.
We would like to thank the large number of city and county groups who applied for a place under the ID Projects programme and look forward to working with new communities into the future.
