This workshop is aimed at new entrants or people who have some experience in shooting and would like to increase their understanding of camera operation, and lighting techniques.
By the end of this practical course, participants will have a clear understanding of shooting practices and be competent in shooting and lighting for interview situations. Participants will have the opportunity to shoot and light various scenarios during the course and have this work critiqued.
Areas covered will include:
- Camera operation & settings
- Exposure – shutter speed, ISO, aperture, white balance
- Shot types, composition, movements
- Depth of Field, selective focus
- Color balance
- Different types of lights, lighting people for interview situations.
About the tutor:
David Poland is an accomplished Director/Cameraman with over 25 years experience in the television industry. After graduating from Plymouth College of Art & Design in film & TV production, David worked as a live broadcast Director/Cameraman in the UK until emigrating to Australia. There he took up the position of Senior Director with the Television Shopping Network before eventually moving on to produce/direct and shoot numerous lifestyle shows for major media companies including Fairfax Media and The Express Media Group.
