Dig Where You Stand | Premiere Screening | Saturday 24th March | SAVE THE DATE

The premiere screening of two documentaries produced through this years Dig Where You Stand funding scheme will take place at 3pm on Saturday 24th March in An Taibhdhearc Theatre.

Director James Ward and Producer Will Smith of Flying Knee Productions have produced a documentary on Veronica Ncube, a former aslyum seeker from South Africa who now resides in Galway City. The film is an intimate portrait of Veronica that delves into her experiences as an asylum seeker in the Direct Provisions Systems and her future aspirations to be an opera singer.

Director Caitríona Ní Chadhain with Slip Jig Media have created a bilingual documentary that looks at the Irish psyche and questions the strange dichotomy of love and fear, which some Irish people feel towards our native language. It follows Galway based comedian Áine Gallagher as she prepares material for her bi-lingual stand-up comedy shows and the film offers fresh insight into what it means to be an Irish-speaker in modern Ireland and encouragement to future Irish speakers.

Dig Where You Stand is a funding scheme for young documentary filmmakers in Galway City and County and Galway Film Centre gratefully acknowledges the funding support of both Galway City Council and Galway County Council.

This is a FREE public screening and all are welcome.
