Timetable for #IrishNordicDoc Seminar – The Business of Documentary: An Irish & Nordic Perspective

10am – 11.30am: Producing People, Swedish Style

Lisa Nyed (Film i Skåne), Ann Lundberg, Caroline Drab, Sofie Palage (Producers from Producing People Scheme)

This panel will discuss Producing People, a new initiative from Film i Skåne, where 4 emerging producers from the Skåne region (South Sweden) will be mentored and supported for one year to springboard to the next level. The 4 producers will talk about how they navigate the career pathway of a producer in their country and in Europe in general. There will also be a presentation of the Nordic Film Fund and the work of Film i Skåne as a regional film fund and some insight into funding structures for creative documentaries in the Nordic countries.


11.45am – 1pm: The Irish Funding Model

Dr. Ciarán Kissane (BAI), Proinsias Ní Ghráinne (TG4), James Hickey (IFB) & Colm O’Callaghan (RTÉ).

Chair: Paddy Hayes (Magamedia)

This panel will briefly look at the Irish funding opportunities for documentary makers with representatives from the IFB, TG4, RTÉ and the BAI.


1pm – 2pm: Networking Lunch – cost is included in ticket price


2pm – 3.30pm: Atlantic: A Case Study of an Irish/Norwegian/Canadian Co-Production

Risteard Ó Domhnaill (Producer/Director, Atlantic, The Pipe), Karl Emil Rikardsen (Co-producer, Atlantic)

Chair: Ross Whitaker

This panel will examine how the award winning documentary, Atlantic, was co-produced.
