Galway Film Centre and Screen Training Ireland are seeking participants for a Sound Editing programme, tutored by Patrick Drummond, Aza Hand & Michelle McCormack. Patrick and Aza are the award-winning sound team from Egg Post Production, specializing in sound design and mixing for film. Michelle is a sound editor who has worked on short films, feature films, television shows and documentaries. This intensive five-day course will comprise of lectures and practical work.
The programme will cover the following:
- Overview of the post-production process and sound post-production in Film and Television
- Role of the Assistant Sound Editor in Film and TV
- Dialogue and effects editing
- Sound post production technical issues and editing systems management
This programme is aimed at participants who are already operating in some sector of the film sound or sound related industry and/or with a proven interest in film sound or a related sound recording area.

Patrick Drummond has an enormous wealth of experience in the supervision and editing of sound for film. He has worked in Hollywood for over 25 years on big budget titles such as “Dick Tracy”, “Boyz N The Hood” and “As Good As It Gets”. Recent credits include Sound Supervision on “I Am Not A Serial Killer’” by Billy O’Brien, “The Canal” by Ivan Kavanagh, “Gold” by Niall Heery and “The Legend Of Longwood” by Lisa Mulcahy.
Aza Hand has designed and mixed numerous feature films, documentaries and short films. Recent credits include “I Am Not A Serial Killer” by Billy O’Brien, “The Canal” by Ivan Kavanagh and “The Legend Of Longwood” by Lisa Mulcahy.
In 2015, Aza and Patrick were nominated for an IFTA for Best Sound for “The Canal”.
Michelle McCormack is a sound editor who has worked on short films, feature films, television shows and documentaries. Throughout her career she has worked as a dialogue editor, sound FXeditor, supervising sound editor and ADR supervisor. Recent credits include “I am not a Serial Killer” by Billy O’ Brien, “Unless” by Alan Gilsenan, “Two by Two” by Toby Genkel and Sean McCormack and “The Legend of Longwood” by Lisa Mulcahy. Michelle was nominated for a Primetime Emmy and an IFTA for her work as a dialogue editor on Game of Thrones Series One.
