Galway Film Centre are delighted to announce new upcoming ‘Education Training Courses and Workshops’ for 2016!
Starting in January and running throughout 2016 you can improve or learn new skills with courses covering Commentary Writing, Lighting, Photoshop, After Effects and Documentary making.
First up in January 2016 is Words & Pictures: Commentary Writing Masterclass with Patrick Uden in association with Screen Training Ireland. This one day Commentary Writing Masterclass will take place on Tuesday January 19th in Galway city and is part of a series of seminars on writing for non-drama television. This masterclass is tutored by UK executive producer, Patrick Uden, who is called on by broadcasters and indies to hone and tighten the commentary on their key series. Good factual commentary writing is explored structurally: not just as a practical how-to, but also as a key component of film language, as integral to story-telling as good directing, good interviews and good music. The course is structured around reviewing clips, discussion and practical exercises so that you will come away confident of understanding both the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of writing better scripts.
Tutor, Patrick Uden, won a BAFTA in 2006 for his innovative Channel Four documentary upload site, FourDocs and he co-created the UK version of The Apprentice and Series II of The Restaurant. This course is aimed at factual television/documentary Producers, Directors, Series Producers and Edit Producers seeking to enhance their storytelling and problem-solving skills for non-drama TV programming. Applications for the seminar can be made through www.screentrainingireland.ie The deadline for application is Wednesday 16th December 2015.
