We are holding a screening of some short films this Thursday night, April 18th at 8pm, Upstairs in Kelly’s Bar in Galway City. The screening consists of a selection of short films made on recent courses that we have run and which were shot in Galway City and County.
Artist at Work, a short documentary created in collaboration with students of the Global Women’s Studies Course in NUI Galway, is about the artist, Kathleen Furey and a unique item that’s a source of inspiration for her.
Next up are two short fictional pieces, which were made as part of Film School Spring 2013. First Dance, explores the life of a lovesick farmer, and The Speech, takes a snapshot of one woman’s new job jitters.
Finally, there will be two short documentaries from the How to Make a Documentary Course. Heart and Hand takes a look at the world-famous Claddagh ring, its relationship to the Claddagh area of Galway and Thomas Dillon’s Jewellers ,which has been in operation since 1750. Tough Love, is a portrait of the high kicks and the low jabs of a couple who are passionate about …kick boxing.
The screening will take place at 8pm, Upstairs in Kelly’s Bar on Bridge Street on Thursday April 18th. It will last approximately 30 minutes and there will also be some finger food to nibble on! All are welcome and we hope you can stay around for a chat afterwards!
