This course is aimed at experienced Production Assistants, who want to move towards the role of Assistant Producer by upskilling in the areas of camera work, editing and sound recording.

Course Profile:
This intense, 4 day course will introduce participants to the fundamentals of camera work, editing and sound recording. It aims to begin to upskill participants into the role of Assistant Producers, where part of their role involves shooting and editing lifestyle pieces for TV. This course will cover the following:

  • EX3 Camera Controls and Menu Settings
  • Overview of Recording Formats
  • Detailed explanation of Exposure, Focus, Gain, White Balance and Shutter Speed
  • Framing and Shooting for editing
  • Camera Movement
  • Demonstration of both the Radio and Unidirectional Shotgun Microphones during field exercises.
  • Transferring and Archiving your Tapeless Footage
  • A hands-on overview of Final Cut Pro 7
  • Preparing a Project for Output and /or Broadcast
  • Transferring and Editing Footage shot on the course into short lifestyle piece.
  • Best practice in media and clip management
