Galway Film Centre in association with Galway City Council & Galway County Council and The Arts Council have announced the ID Projects 2010.
Galway Film Centre, under its ID Projects Scheme, has been working with community groups to develop technical, practical and personal skills, in the area of documentary making since 2000.
The ID Projects aim to document a broad range of issues and subjects in society today by empowering groups to tell their own stories. This is done by giving participants basic foundation training and hands-on experience in the areas of writing, directing, camera, sound and editing. The groups then tell their own stories based on the common theme of identity.
The communities selected for 2010 are The Blue Teapot Theatre Company and Galway Bellydance. These 2 groups are from Galway city. From the county, we have chosen the Get Lippy, Ballinasloe Youth Democracy Group and Amach! LGBT Galway.
We would like to thank the large number of city and county groups who applied for a place under the ID Projects 2010 programme.
Galway Film Centre has a number of different awards designed to support and promote filmmakers with innovative ideas but limited financial resources.
Short Film Awards
Galway Film Centre runs an awards scheme with RTÉ. The awards are be given to the two best original scripts for a short drama. Designed to promote filmmaking throughout the regions, the scheme, funded by RTÉ, is open to filmmakers from all over Ireland. The two winners will each receive a production fund of €9,500 as well as the use of facilities from the Galway Film Centre. The winning films will be screened twice by RTÉ.
Only one script per applicant is acceptable so please submit your strongest choice and all applicants must be members of Galway Film Centre. If you think you have a good idea for a short film then now is the time to start writing!
