Galway Film Centre in association with Galway City Council & Galway County Council and The Arts Council have announced the ID Projects 2010.
Galway Film Centre, under its ID Projects Scheme, has been working with community groups to develop technical, practical and personal skills, in the area of documentary making since 2000.
The ID Projects aim to document a broad range of issues and subjects in society today by empowering groups to tell their own stories. This is done by giving participants basic foundation training and hands-on experience in the areas of writing, directing, camera, sound and editing. The groups then tell their own stories based on the common theme of identity.
The communities selected for 2010 are The Blue Teapot Theatre Company and Galway Bellydance. These 2 groups are from Galway city. From the county, we have chosen the Get Lippy, Ballinasloe Youth Democracy Group and Amach! LGBT Galway.
We would like to thank the large number of city and county groups who applied for a place under the ID Projects 2010 programme.

Flying Film Squad:
Open to community, youth and school groups with an interest in filmmaking. Professionals from the film industry will visit your venue to tutor and teach the basic skills in film making. Learn how to operate professional mini DV cameras, record sound, use lights and as a group, make a short film.
Animation & Live Action Drama workshops – ideal for schools and community groups:
Over the past few years, Galway Film Centre have run many workshops and Summer Camps with teenagers and children with great success.
Animation: This is an exciting way for a class to explore creative story-telling and visual imagery using the Animation Lunchbox. The tutor will show the class how to create their own images and characters and transform their drawings into a short animated film. Through the medium of sand drawing and claymation, students will see their work come to life before their eyes.
Live Action Drama: This covers the creative and technical demands of storytelling using moving images to dramatic effect. As a group, you will script your own drama, shoot the scenes, act, direct, crew and edit a short film under the guidance of a professional filmmaker.
At the end of each workshop, you will receive a DVD of the films produced by your group/class. This DVD is ideal for portfolio inclusion. The films are also submitted to Galway Junior Film Fleadh and the Limerick Fresh Film Festival.
Galway Film Centre will run Animation and Live Action Drama Workshops/ Summer Camps this Summer:
