The date for the FÍS TV Summit (Fís) has been announced as Thursday 23rd January 2020 with the inclusion of a new pitching competition for a prize of €1,000 added to the event.
The 2020 edition will focus on Developing TV Drama as its theme and promises a host of case studies, panels and key-note interviews tackling this crucial phase in the genesis of any project. Speakers will include Irish, UK and US Commissioners, Distributors, Writers, Producers and Director with representatives from organisations such as TG4, RTÉ, Virgin Media, BBC, BBC Studios, Kew Media and many more to be unveiled. Organised by the Galway Film Centre in partnership with Screen Ireland and TG4 with support from Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI), Gréasán na Meán, Screen Skills Ireland, Creative Europe Media Desk, GMIT and the WRAP Fund, Fís looks at the television landscape and the current trends, challenges and opportunities as well as creating a chance for Irish talent to connect and network with Irish and international television professionals. Now in its third year, past guests at this Galway event have included Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad), Beau Willimon (House Of Cards), Jimmy McGovern (Cracker) and Amy Huberman (Finding Joy). FÍS has also become a key component in the UNESCO City of Film/Ceantar Scannán calendar.
Fís Pitching Award 2020
A welcome new addition to the event is the Fís Pitching Award. Up to five projects (drama series, TV single, short form/web series, ) from individuals or teams will be invited to an open pitch to industry experts during Fís in order to win a prize of €1,000.
