Mise Gaillimh 2020 has been nominated for the Kieran Hegarty Award for Innovation at this years Celtic Media Festival!
The Mise Gaillimh 2020 film is a cinematic poem in 360 Virtual Reality evoking the landscape, language, culture, the community and the spirit of place that is uniquely Galway. Based on a re-imagining and re-write of the ancient poem ‘Song of Amergín’ for Galway in the 21st century, with a nod to Raftery the poet ‘full of hope and love’. The film features Olwen Fouéré, Róisín Seoighe, Peadar Ó Treasaigh, Tristan Warner, Macnas Youth Ensemble and the people of Galway.
Mise Gaillimh 2020 was produced by Paula Kehoe of Saoi Media with Galway 2020 and Galway Film Centre and was a centrepiece of the Galway 2020 bid for European Capital of Culture 2020.
The Celtic Media Festival is an annual 3 day event that promotes the languages and cultures of the Celtic Nations and Regions in media. It combines a major conference of seminars and master classes with presentation of coveted prizes in an international competition across all the main content genres in TV, radio, film and digital media. The 2017 Celtic Media Festival will take place from the 3rd to the 5th of May in Douglas, Isle of Man.
