IN LOCO PARENTIS the critically acclaimed film about Ireland’s only boarding school for primary school children will be screened at the Galway’s EYE Cinema from Friday 10th March to Thursday 16th March daily at 7pm.
Just home from a whirlwind success at the Sundance Film Festival, In Loco Parentis, by Neasa Ní Chianáin takes a heart-warming look at the lives of two soon-to-be-retired teachers—and married couple of almost 50 years—whose passion and idiosyncratic teaching styles inspire and challenge the young students in their care. It is set in the the topsy-turvy world of woodland forts, Latin, rock music, Shakespeare in the magical Hogwarts-like 18th century Headfort School in Kells, Co Meath.
Critics at some of the world’s top documentary film festivals including IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival, Amsterdam) and Sundance have variously described it as ‘engaging’, ‘uplifting’, ‘delightful’, ‘compelling’, ‘magical’ and ‘utterly charming’.
Director, Neasa Ní Chianáin and producer and co-director David Rane will attend a special event screening at the EYE Cinema Galway on Friday 10th March at 7pm and will take part in a Q&A with audiences afterwards.
