‘An Mhallacht’ – Físín Premiere on 26th March as part of Dingle Film Festival 2017

Antoin Beag Ó Colla’s ‘An Mhallacht’ winner of the 2016 FÍSÍN Award at the Dingle International Film Festival will have it’s premiere at this years DIFF in March.

An Mhallacht, is a dark comedy drama based on the Mayo GAA team curse of 1951 with Cóilín Ó Scolaí directing and produced by James Ryan of StationHouse Media.

“Tá foireann Mhaigh Eo tríd arís go dtí Cluiche Ceannais Craobh na hÉireann agus tá dílseachataí Dr. Donal Green curtha faoi bhrú nuair a fhoglhaim sé go bhfuil ceann do a chuid othair an h-imreoir deireanach den fhoireann cáiliúil mallachta 1951. Tá an cliar lán le réaltanna téilifís agus scannanaíocht Seamus Hughes, Peadar O’Treasaigh, Peadar Cox, Marcus Lamb agus Yvonne Ní Laife; tá an dráma dúghrinn seo bunaithe ar dhá dearthár agus an Mhallacht cáiliúil ó1951 agus an éifeacht atá aige air saol s’acu – go dtí go bruíonn sé iad go dtí an pointe go téann siad in éadan gach rud a creideann siad ann.

Mayo are once again in the GAA All Ireland Final – Dr Donal Green has his loyalties tested when he discovers that one of his comatose patients is the last living player from the infamous cursed Mayo team of 1951. With a cast that includes TV and Film actors Seamus Hughes, Peadar O’Treasaigh, Peadar Cox, Marcus Lamb and Yvonne Ní Laife; this dark comedy drama revolves around two brothers and the Mayo GAA Curse of 1951 that affects their daily lives – pushing them to the point where they go against all they believe to be true.”

The short film had a number of days shooting in January on location in Kilconly Co. Galway.

An Mhallacht will screen before Jim Sheridan’s new feature film ‘The Secret Scripture‘ on at 8pm Sunday 26th March. Full details on the screening and tickets are available on the Dingle International Film Festival website.
