Cinemobile and Galway Film Centre are delivering a FREE animation workshop to pupils in Gaelscoil de hĺde, Oranmore, this morning!
The animation workshop will be delivered to 12/13 year old pupils and will be facilitated by Rory Conway, from Cartoon Saloon. Funded by the Irish Film Board the FREE workshop is part of Galway Film Centre and Cinemobile’s plans to roll out the workshops to schools at all levels throughout county Galway over the coming months. This workshop also complements the UNESCO Galway City of Film’s Animation Training Course for primary school teachers in Galway which is already underway in partnership with Galway Education Centre.
The workshop will consist of an introduction to the animation process and an overview of the making of Cartoon Saloon’s Oscar-nominated Song of the Sea. It will demonstrate how to go about drawing characters from Song of the Sea and other movie characters familiar to students.
The workshop will take place in the 100 seater mobile digital cinema, an ideal venue for so many educational and artistic activities. Cinemobile’s theatre screen will be used to project the workshop facilitator’s sketches in real time.
Following Rory Conways’s workshop the students of Calasanctius College will then be treated to a very special screening of this beautifully made Irish film.
